Wiedza do biznesu!

Innovation, creativity and academic entrepreneurship are among the key factors of regional development in Wielkopolska. A variety of studies, reports and strategic national and regional programmes scheduled for 2007-2013 will further confirm that. Stimulating entrepreneurship is an important component of economic growth. That is particularly true for Wielkopolska, where the research resources abound, with 33 universities and 40 B+R entities.

The NTPP’s and European Centre for Financial Consulting experience is that the academics and students are extremely interested in gaining business capabilities. The STARTup your life! project has proven that. The applications by large outnumbered the available places at the project, which was aimed at the stimulation of entrepreneurship among Wielkopolska university fellows and students. Knowledge is a crucial component of business nowadays. Many Wielkopolska people – particularly the young – are very well aware of that. However, there is still room for improvement in creating the common awareness.

A significant number of academics seem still unaware of the need of transferring knowledge to business and strengthening the B+R links. Therefore, further activities will be needed, such as the STARTup your life! project. The Knowledge to Business: stimulating entrepreneurship among the Wielkopolska researchers project will include the following:

  • Training in the delivery of business plans, fund raising and international entrepreneurship;
  • Legal, taxation, marketing and sales consulting;
  • the concept of the academic entrepreneurship will be promoted by widespread information activities, including billboard ads, a quarterly booklet (6 issues) and the Academic Entrepreneurship Expo will be organised twice to provide the academics with the opportunities to learn of the business related services available in Wielkopolska that are aimed at the prospective businesses with academic roots.

The support is aimed predominantly at the public and private universities, university research units, students, post-graduate students and graduates in Wielkopolska.

The project has been underway since March 2010 and it is scheduled to end in August 2011. It is a part of the The Knowledge to Business: stimulating entrepreneurship among the Wielkopolska researchers project of Activity 8.2.1 of the Human Capital Operational Programme: stimulating business and research synergy in Wielkopolska. The activity is financed by the European Social Fund.
